Katsuaki Kaito has been named president of Shimadzu Scientific Instruments.
Shimadzu Corporation announced on July 21 that it has named Katsuaki Kaito president of Shimadzu Scientific Instruments (SSI). Kaito will be responsible for all sales and management functions for SSI, the American subsidiary of Shimadzu Corporation (Kyoto, Japan). He takes the place of former SSI president Shuzo Maruyama, who has been promoted to general manager of the analytical and measuring division.
Kaito joined the company’s liquid chromatography department 32 years ago and has spent 14 years performing R&D functions and 18 years in manufacturing. He was president of Shimadzu USA Manufacturing from 2003 to 2008; since then, he has served as general manager of the analytical and measuring instruments plant.
Kaito earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Tokyo.
