MilliporeSigma Introduces Multi-Use Disposable Sterile Connectors at INTERPHEX

Article

The company announced the launch of its first-in-class Lynx CDR connectors at INTERPHEX 2016.

On April 26, 2016, MilliporeSigma debuted its first-in-class Lynx CDR connectors at INTERPHEX 2016 in New York, NY. The new connectors allow fluid management through six sterile connections, disconnections, and reconnections from one disposable device as an alternative to tube welding processes and traditional manifold configurations used in upstream and downstream processes.

According to the company, “previous disposable connector technology allowed users to make only a single sterile connection per device, requiring the use of multiple devices per unit operation. Previous technology also required a dry, non-pressurized flow path during connection and disconnection. These limitations are resource and cost intensive when industry standards demand increased productivity and improved efficiency at all stages of the drug manufacturing process.”

"Lynx CDR connectors will change the way pharmaceutical fluids are managed, lowering drug manufacturing costs," said Udit Batra, CEO, MilliporeSigma, in a press release. "Our connectors set a new standard for sterile fluid connections, dramatically improving ease of use and reliability."
