MilliporeSigma Adds CEX Resin and Amino Acids

Article

New products were developed as next-generation process intensification technologies, MilliporeSigma reports.

MilliporeSigma introduced a cation exchange (CEX) resin and two amino acids on Sept. 4, 2018 at the 2018 BioProcess International Conference & Exhibition, in Boston, MA.

The Eshmuno CP-FT CEX chromatography resin uses flow-through frontal chromatography to remove aggregates from monoclonal antibody therapeutics. The resin enables loading capacities 10 times higher than traditional bind/elute CEX chromatography; it requires less resin and less buffer volume while offering a shorter processing time, the company reports.

Two modified amino acids, Phospho-L-Tyrosine Disodium Salt Emprove Expert and L-Cysteine S-Sulfate Sodium Sesquihydrate Emprove Expert, enable high concentrations of tyrosine and cysteine in cell culture feeds and can be integrated into the bioprocessing feed to simplify fed-batch process, the company reports. The amino acids derivatives, which are stable and soluble at neutral pH and room temperature, are the only products that meet industry quality and GMP (per IPEC) standards, the company reports.

The life-science business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany operates as MilliporeSigma in the US and Canada.
