AAPS elections for Executive Council will be held in June/July 2017; results announced in August.

The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) announced on June 1, 2017 candidates for the upcoming AAPS Executive Council. Elections will be held in June/July and the new Executive Council will begin serving in November at the AAPS Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA.

Open nominations were accepted through the AAPS website, emails to membership, and the AAPS Newsmagazine earlier this year. The AAPS Nominations Committee considered the knowledge, skill sets, and attitudes necessary to lead AAPS in advancing the organization’s mission to advance the capacity of pharmaceutical scientists to develop products and therapies that improve global health, AAPS reported in a statement announcing the nominations.

The candidates for president-elect are Phillip Ramsey, Emergent BioSolutions and Dale Eric Wurster, The University of Iowa.

The candidates for member-at-large are Reina Bendayan, University of Toronto; Meena Subramanyam, Takeda; Allen C. Templeton, Merck & Co., Inc.; and Robin M. Zavod, Midwestern University, Chicago College of Pharmacy.

The voting deadline is July 31, 2017 and results will be announced in August, the association reported in a press statement.
