At Pittcon 2013, Bruker introduced a range of instruments and software updates including two LC-triple quadrupole (LC-TQ) mass spectrometers, the EVOQ Qube and the EVOQ Elite.

The EVOQ LC-TQ systems incorporate the company’s advance ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography (UHPLC) system, vacuum-insulated probe heated electrospray ionization (VIP-HESI) technology, and an active exhaust atmospheric pressure ionization source. Other features include a proprietary Interlaced Quadrupole Dual Funnel (IQ-DF) that maximizes instrument sensitivity and PACER software enables exception based data review, reducing the error rate for quantitative analysis, according to a company press statement. A lens-free triple-quad mass filter design is standard on the EVOQs, enhancing multiple reaction monitoring performance.

The COMPACT LC-QqTOF mass spectrometer leverages the latest ion guide and high-transmission MSMS cell from the IMPACT LC-QqTOF, in a very compact, economic bench-top format. With a 10-bit ADC detection technology, the COMPACT system gains a 3 to 4 times higher dynamic range during real LC timescales. The innovation delivers productivity gains by greatly increased robustness to sample variation allowing reduced sample pretreatment especially desirable in high throughput quantitative applications.  The technology also provides a 50 GBit/sec sampling speed.

Other introductions include the TANGO-T FT-NIR (Fourier Transform Near Infrared) spectrometer for measuring liquid samples in transmission mode and the SkyScan 1272 high-resolution X-ray micro-CT 3D microscope that can visualize up to 200 Megapixel (14,450 x 14450 pixels) virtual slices through objects. Two Assure-RMS (raw materials screening) modules were introduced for the pharmaceutical industry. The chemometrics module identifies and quantifies key components, provides in-depth details of materials composition, and detects non-conforming material. The Aloe vera screening module identifies material, quality, and quantity of key components in raw extract and finished products.
